About me

Well let me start off by telling you a little about myself!
My name is Brittany Staples and I am from the VERY small town of Austin, Nevada. When I say small I mean two-hundred people small! I was raised on a cattle and alfalfa ranch with my parents and six siblings. I spent the majority of my time going to school and playing sports. During the summer I worked as a hired hand for my Dad on the ranch. This is where I first obtained my love for dogs.
On the ranch, our dogs mostly consisted of border collies and Australian shepherds. These dogs were raised to be used as tools to assist in cattle work. We also had other various breeds such as a golden retriever, a lab, a dalmatian and even a basset hound at one time! Basically, we always had at least one dog. I have many incredible memories and stories about those dogs, but those are for a different time.
While attending college at BYU-Idaho, I pursed a degree in Business Management. Somewhere along the journey I married my sweetheart Mike; we now live happily in Logan Utah with our two dogs, Odie(Black Lab) and Ruger(Vizsla).
I always knew dogs were important to me, but it was just a short time ago that I decided that I wanted to follow my dream, so I began a career in dog training. My husband Mike was such a motivator for me to follow this dream, so as a gift to me, he provided a way for me to become certified as a professional dog trainer through Catch Canine Trainers Academy.
My experience in this schooling has been absolutely amazing. The amount of knowledge I have gained has been incomprehensible. The school director, David Muriello, is a well renowned dog trainer in New York City that has a lot to offer his potential students. For any of you curious about this profession, I would highly recommend for you to check out their website. They will happily help you become a dog trainer with a mentor by your side. Through self-study, mentor guidance, and hands-on work with dogs, CATCH gives you the training and certification you need to become a professional dog trainer.
After my initial interest in the canine market, I started out with a small dog walking business called Stayplease dog walkers. I loved the time I spent getting to know many different people along with their dogs! After some experience with dog walking, I took a step farther and got a rare opportunity to become a dog trainer for the company PuppySteps training. (See PuppyStepsTraining tab for more on that.)
I hope you enjoy reading more in this blog about the wonderful world of dogs and how I can assist you in becoming better owners and trainers.
